Royal & Sun Alliance, the insurance firm that recently announced plans to cut 1,500 jobs, has reported an increase in half-year profits.
The company said its pre-tax profit was 329m in the six months to the end of June, compared with 296m a year ago.
Profits were driven by both its UK business, which operates the More Than brand, and foreign sales, particularly in Canada and Latin America.
Royal & Sun also saw growth in its premium figures, which rose to 2.83bn.
Royal & Sun announced the job cuts in June and the insurer said it hoped to limit compulsory redundancies.
The company has 10,000 staff in the UK including sites in Sussex, Liverpool and Manchester.
