Most of health insurance companies are currently targeting social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. They are looking for any questions and negative comments toward their company. This will also helps the car insurance companies keep their own happier spin on things and interact with the consumers.
However, there are privacy concerns which cause some challenges for the health insurance business to go forward – the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act, also known as HIPAA. Hospital, insurers and other health insurance entities are not allow to say anything out in public regarding the treatments done to their patients.
Yet, many of the health insurance companies are starting to move forward with this new strategy.
The VP of Service Operations says the company is “out monitoring blogs” to tries to help anyone they believe they can help directly answering questions and other concerns.
According to the health insurance company Humana, the company is out in various social media network to monitors what their consumers are talking about the company and to see if there are any other concerns or questions that they can directly help their members.
